The Narrative

MYDRIVER PRIVATE TOURS OFFERS AN INSIGHTFUL AND PRIVATE MARGARET RIVER WINE REGION EXPERIENCE!

MYDRIVER Margaret River is operated by Robert — a trained wine educator who spent a decade managing the cellar door at Cape Mentelle, one of the LVMH-owned estates that helped define the region's international reputation. With over 25 years of experience and a network built across the local wine industry, Robert doesn't just drive you to cellar doors. He opens them properly. Tours are entirely private, running from a minimum of 4 hours through to a full 7-hour day, with a fleet of K4 Kia Carnival MPVs accommodating up to 6 guests in genuine comfort. The itinerary is matched precisely to your expectations — whether you want to spend serious time with a single winemaker, hit a carefully chosen selection of estates across the region, or blend wine experiences with food, brewery stops, and scenic coastal detours. Margaret River's wine country is anchored by Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay of genuine international standing — the kind that holds its own against Bordeaux and Burgundy at blind tastings. Robert's insider knowledge of which producers are performing at their peak, and which cellar door experiences go beyond the standard pour-and-pay, gives MYDRIVER guests an edge over independent visitors navigating 200-plus cellar doors without guidance. For those travelling between Perth and the region, MYDRIVER also offers luxury transfers from the city, making the entire journey part of the experience rather than just the commute. Ready to book? Send MYDRIVER Margaret River an enquiry and they'll be in touch within 24 hours.

Frequently asked

What is the minimum booking duration?
MYDRIVER offers private touring from a minimum of 4 hours, with full day tours running approximately 7 hours. Hourly rates apply, so you can design a tour that fits your available time. Contact Robert directly to discuss the right format for your group.
Can you arrange Perth to Margaret River transfers?
Yes — MYDRIVER offers luxury transfers between Perth and the Margaret River wine region, turning what's typically a 3-hour drive into a seamless part of your trip. Gift vouchers covering all MYDRIVER products are also available with 12-month validity.
How does Robert's Cape Mentelle background benefit the tour experience?
A decade managing the cellar door at Cape Mentelle — one of Margaret River's original and most celebrated wineries — means Robert has deep personal relationships across the region. He understands wine at an educational level, can discuss vintages, terroir, and winemaking with real authority, and knows which producers offer genuinely exceptional experiences.
Can I customise my wine tour?
Yes. Tours are fully flexible and tailored around guest preferences, winery style, pace, and dining. With 100+ cellar doors across the region, itineraries can be highly curated.
Are your tours private or shared?
All tours are fully private, ensuring exclusive use of the vehicle and a personalised itinerary across one of Australia’s most visited wine regions, attracting over 1.5 – 2 million visitors annually.
Can we include non- winery activities in the tour?
Yes. Margaret River is much more than wine, and tours can easily include a range of premium local experiences. The region is home to artisan cheese and chocolate producers, boutique pottery and ceramics studios, and some of Western Australia’s most spectacular coastal and forest scenery.
How long are the private tours"
Tours are flexible to suit your day, as flexibility is the cornerstone of a good itinerary. Options start from 4 hours and scale up to 7+ hours depending on how much of the region you want to explore.
Are your tours suitable for small groups?
Yes. Vehicles accommodate up to six guests, ideal for couples, families, and small private groups. For larger groups, two vehicles can work in tandem and with the itinerary the same, or split to suit customer preference.
Do I need to bring anything?
Generally, you don’t as MYDRIVER Margaret River will provide umbrellas in the event of rain and carries a stock of (recycled plastic) bottled spring water on board to stave off thirst and dehydration. Depending on the tour or the activities planned for the day, sensible and enclosed toe footwear is encouraged as we may be traipsing through the bush, vineyards and the wineries.
Are private wine tours better than group tours?
Yes. Private tours allow access to boutique wineries across a region with 100+ cellar doors, better pacing, and more personalised experiences.
How much does a luxury wine tour cost in Margaret River?
Pricing reflects exclusivity, private transport, and curated access to premium wineries, many of which are internationally recognised and award-winning. Mydriver Margaret River is one of the few operators offering full transparency on published pricings, and without the need for a deposit.
How many wineries should you visit in a day?
Most luxury itineraries include 3–5 wineries, balancing travel time across a region where stops can be 20–40 minutes apart. You should allow for 45 minutes at each cellar door, and an hour and half for a casual lunch, and two and half + hours, if seeking a more refined dining experience.
Do wine tours include a tasting fee?
Most venues currently charge a nominal tasting fee, but these are often redeemable if wine is purchased.
Is lunch included in the price of the wine tour?
No, lunch is not included for our tailored itineraries. This allows guests to choose from award-winning winery restaurants or casual vineyard dining across a region with 20+ premium cellar door restaurants. There are a number of fixed tour experiences offered, which include all aspects of the day's itinerary, i.e. transport, guiding, wine tasting, activities and lunch.
Do I need to book wine tours in advance?
Yes, booking ahead is recommended, especially during peak seasons and weekends. Every booking enquiry includes an exchange of information resulting in a draft itinerary between us, and once approved all bookings are handled on your behalf.
What makes the Margaret River wine region so special?
Margaret River is widely regarded as one of the world’s great premium wine regions. It is known for premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and boutique artisanal producers. Its Mediterranean climate, ancient soils and low-yield vines create a unique ‘terroir’ that consistently produces high quality wines.
