The Narrative

We hold the only key to the private working sheds of the Barossa's most legendary winemakers. No showrooms. No crowds. Just you, the barrels, and the makers themselves.

Not Your Standard Wine Tour - Every other tour takes you to the front door. We take you through the back.

About this tour

A “Once in a Lifetime” Seat - With a strict limit of 8 guests, this is a semi-private experience that feels like a personal invitation. If you snag a spot, you're getting access money alone can't buy.

Enjoy the luxury of a High-end Tour at a shared price.

Walk out your front door and we're there. No meeting points, no bus stops, no stress — just a relaxed pickup from your accommodation and a full day in the Barossa ahead of you.

This is not a standard cellar door crawl. Your guide has built personal relationships with award-winning Barossa winemakers over years, and those connections get you behind the scenes. You'll sit down with the people who actually make the wine, taste through their personal ranges, and hear stories that never make it to the tasting counter. These are sessions that simply don't exist on any other tours. We visit a handful of award-winning wine makers who've asked us not to name them publicly — their cellar doors aren't open to walk-ins.

At each stop, expect 7 - 10 pours of wine you won't find on any public tasting list — high-end allocated bottles, limited releases, and wines drawn straight from the barrel — this is what the rest of the world has to hunt for.

With a maximum of 8 guests, the day feels effortless. The group is small enough that every tasting is personal, every conversation is real, and the whole experience moves at a pace that lets you actually enjoy it — from first glass to last.

Lunch — A proper Barossa pub lunch at the historic Stockwell Hotel — hearty, generous country cooking in one of the valley's most loved locals. The kind of place that's been feeding winemakers and farmers for generations.

Good to know

Frequently asked

Why is the group size capped at 8 guests?
The 8-guest maximum is a deliberate decision by Wine Tours Adelaide to ensure every guest receives proper attention at every cellar door — from the guide during transport to the winemakers at each stop. Larger groups lose the ability to have genuine conversations and access that smaller groups can unlock.
What is 'exclusive winemaker access' and what does it involve?
Wine Tours Adelaide has established relationships with Barossa producers that allow their guests to meet and talk directly with the winemakers behind the wines — in cellar doors, barrel rooms or production areas that aren't open to walk-in visitors. It's the difference between tasting a wine and understanding the person who made it.
Can larger groups book through Wine Tours Adelaide?
Yes — private group wine tours are available for 2 to 30 people. Groups larger than 8 guests travel in a larger vehicle and the itinerary is tailored accordingly. Contact them to discuss pricing and options for your group size.
